They are also endangered and protected. Why are you harassing them?

Desert fish. Here fishie fishie fishie.

That one merely scampered off, with a shrug of shoulders and hardly a spit.

Spit is gold out there.

You need to adjust the date in your camera.

I was hoping for mustangs or antelope and what do I get...stupid lizards.

I'll try better today around Frenchman Lake. Maybe even venture further than 20 feet from the 4x4. Happy Fourth! P.S. I fixed the date on the camera...not sure how it got off 2 days.

avatar Re: Creature feature

Didn't see a single bear in 6 days in Yose backcountry... only bear poo and tracks...
Just dear and marmots and other various rodentia...

10x Zoom at Smedberg.

Happy 4th. Brats and couch fishing for me today...

Nice shot. What camera are you using?

"Wilderness" for me this morning then BBQ ribs at my sister's.

Nice shot. Did not realize Smedberg Lake was that attractive.

It is. As are Sister and Surprise.
The wifie and I like Surprise the best. Very difficult to capture Surprise's beauty with a still camera though.

Dale,

What was your complete trail route? I presume you did some sort of loop.

Looks like a great route - glad I found it mentioned here, as I just flew over that region on June 20, and found your route the same day I was annotating these photos of the same place:
North YNP Aerial-1
North YNP Aerial-2

View from 33,000 feet, courtesy American Airlines. Do the labels look correct to you, Mike?

I was trying to shoo the snake off the dirt road up to Crystal Peak out of Stead, NV...it didn't want anything to do with me or my generous attitude.

Freakin reptiles.

Why? Was it too hard to drive/walk around the snake?

Freakin reptiles.

It averages 20 to 30 bottles of antivenom to treat one bite, Vince. That stuff costs about $3000 per bottle. Do the math.

Antivenin on a non-poisonous snake? Do that math.

This particular slithering reptile obvously had had quite enough of any human. As I said on youtube, it bit the tires on the truck as I went around it.

It is interesting how gopher snakes act so much like rattlers: coil, strike, tail shake, etc.

Sure it costs a lot.. but the snake's life is worth it.

Cool. Thanks for the aerial shots! Every time I'm flying I'm invariably on the wrong side of the plane!
I'm not Mike but those labels look pretty correct to me.
I'm gonna give them a really good look over when I have more time to burn.
Thanks again

I thought it was the other way around.

Ron,
You got any shots west of what you have above?

I was pretty sure you were thinking Dale but I did look at a lot of the labels. I had to quit as I was getting a north/south south/north headache.

I'll repost this...

Ron,
You got any shots west of what you have above?

Love it..

Couple of things:
- Spiller... not Splitter
- Crown Lake is off a bit... it's the lake just south of where you put it (which is Robinson)

You can see a large number of lakes... Sister, Doe, Smedberg, Miller, Tallulah, Murdock, Rodgers, Virginia...
Unfortunately... Loch Table is out of view off the right...

Only one shot farther west: Hyatt Lake - Big Lake
And I haven't labeled it, but have identified Hyatt Lake & Big Lake.

Thanks for having a look and sending corrections; wish now that I had taken more photos.

Woah... that one is pretty cool too!

Cherry Creek & Canyon
Many Island Lake
Mercur Peak and Lake
Lord Meadow
Boundary, Little Bear, and Spotted Fawn
Even park of Kibbie Lake

All visible! Sweet

I'm glad it's not a picture of a human doing that...not that they don't...but when you gotta, you gotta.
