Yosemite National Park announces a new exhibit entitled Yosemite Viewed: Landscape Paintings of the 19 th and 20 th Centuries which opened to the public on Monday, June 4, 2012. The exhibit will run until Sunday, September 30, 2012. It is located in the Yosemite Valley Museum (adjacent to the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center) and features paintings from Yosemite National Park’s extensive museum collection. Early artists Thomas Ayres, Albert Bierstadt and Thomas Moran are featured in the exhibit, as well as 20 th century artists Chiura Obata and Gunnar Widforss. Contemporary pieces by Jane Culp, Gregory Kondos and Richard Richards are also included.

Historic hotel registers signed by renowned artists will be on display alongside the “Grand Register of Yo-Semite Valley,” that was used at the Cosmopolitan Bathhouse and Saloon, located in Yosemite Valley from 1873 to 1884. The register is available for the public to view through an interactive kiosk featuring entries from visitors to Yosemite Valley as early as 1873. The Cosmopolitan Register itself contains over 800 pages of entries and weighs over 80 pounds. It was donated to Yosemite National Park by the Yosemite Conservancy in 2007.

The exhibit will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday, June 4, 2012, through Sunday, September 30, 2012.
