As you are aware, the Rim Fire had a significant impact on recreational areas that attract visitors to the Highway 120 experience. One area impacted by the fire and rain has been Rainbow Pool Day Use Area. We will be working with the U.S. Forest Service to clean and make repairs to the site from damage due to the fire. With your help, we plan to support the Groveland Ranger District by cleaning up the access roads into and out of the site from rocks and brush that have fallen, remove mud build up in various areas from debris flows into the parking lot and restrooms, sand and stain several benches and picnic tables, repaint the BBQ pits in the picnic area, and move limbs from fallen hazard trees into burn or chipping piles. The work will begin at 9:00 am and run until approximately 3:00 pm (the more volunteers we have, the quicker the project will be completed). RSVP is required to participate in the project (see contact information below). Meeting location information will be communicated to volunteers before the event. Recommended minimum age to volunteer is 12. Volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign volunteer agreement. This project will be the first volunteer project within the Rim Fire perimeter and the first phase of clean-up and restoration activities planned at the Rainbow Pool Day Use Area by the Yosemite Highway 120 Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service.

What is required to volunteer: (Note: It is essential that you RSVP to be a volunteer)
- Closed toe shoes

- Water and a bag lunch
- Preferably long sleeve shirt and pants

- Gas Blower

RSVP required, if you would like to help please call or email: Tom Hernandez 209-962-4704 Email: thadventures@yahoo.com.

Has anyone been down there and seen how burned up the area is?
I'm hoping not very, it was a nice spot.

It was rather shocking driving in on 120 a few weeks ago. Burnt on one side or the other, or BOTH. Roads and other visible things that were previously hidden by the vegetation , "DO NOT ENTER - AREA CLOSED" signs all over the place, trees cut down, and even a couple of areas that looked like they'd been logged already.

I hope it grows back quicker than the big fire that burned around Foresta, how long ago?
