Anybody know if the TM campground store will still be there next year. Read through the TM River report. Lots of changes to everything. No mention of the store. Also..will the campground remain 50% first come or change to reservation only. The wording in the report is vague.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Just had my reservation canceled due to closure of the TM campground for spraying. I was reserved 8/16/ to 8/20. Anybody else heard of this closure. Was really looking forward to seeing my favorite place this year.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
You might want to check the reservation website.Looks like there are quite a number of available sites. So search for all sites.RV,tent etc. They don't care if you get an rv site and show up with a tent. At least when I showed up. Here is the site. The campground closes Sept 26. http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/campground.htm#tableby tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
We always get to the office by 6:30am.Always get a site. Sept should be easier than July and August. But...if you can get there early.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Guess I like rustic, cooler temps in summer and nicer air and a nice river. I never go near the valley in the summer. The heat, the people, the smog just isn't my style. You can always move to another site at TM. I have never had a problem doing so. Sounds like some people should stay at a hotel.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Just spent 5 nights at the campground. Excellent. Year after year it never changes.Best campground around. Seems like everybody that camps there has been camping there for many years. Not crowded during the day, the water was cold but good for a dip. Store well stocked. Even had a huge bear one night. Scared some, but most used to it.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Can't recall. Are the bear boxes at the TM campground 17 or 18 inches tall. My son has a cooler with wheels and I don't think it will fit. Thanks.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

We will be at our favorite campground end of July. Just curious. Is the river that flows, still flowing or just a bunch of rocks. Most of the time we like to take a dip during the day and lay on a rock? Anybody been there lately? Thanks.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
You should be able to get the entire length of your stay, 4 nights. If you only book one night..then you have to go back the next day. But check with the rangers office that day.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Here is what has worked for us for the last 23 years. Get to the office at TM by 6:30am to 7am to get a site. Tour the sites before they open to see what is most likely available. They also post a list at the entry kiosk. You can always ask for a different site. Once you get a reservation at the office you may have to wait a bit, but at least you will get a site. We usually just show up super early and get a site at TM campground. This year we used the reservation system. It shows a check-in time of 12 noon. Do the kiosk staff make you wait until 12 noon or can you get in early. Thanks for any info on this topic. Daveby tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
As far as the campground goes it is difficult. Not sure about the tent cabins. Two trips we saw people with babies. Both times the babies were up all night crying. Both times the people left the next day. I now bring ear plugs to the TM campground just in case. Not kidding. Good luck.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Let me clarify a bit. Back in March I was listed as the primary occupant and my son was listed as the person that placed the reservation. I called twice and both reps confirmed that I was listed as the primary, although the reservation was placed by my son in his name. My name has since been deleted and now only references my son on the reservation for all. And as mentioned, he must show up toby tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Well things have changed again. I was referenced as the primary occupant back in March for our reservation in July at TM. My son was the person that ordered it using his credit card etc. Well now they are saying they don't reference the primary occupant under a different name at all. The person that made the reservation must be present to check into the campground. Either person is not allowedby tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Yep. It can only be viewed on the reservation system by the agents. At least that is what one agent told me. The agent said she will get that changed so it's printed out. Still...one agent said it was the person making the reservation, another said it was the "primary occupant". I did ask for an email listing the primary agent, she said she couldn't send it. This is all a fine idby tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
We always show up at the office no later than 7am. It has always worked for us for 20 years. Bring cash. Last two times they couldnt take cards or checks. I think the sign says that nowby tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
My son made our reservations for TM on the 15th. He paid for it etc, but I was listed as the primary occupant. I am in their system as primary occupant, but not listed on the confirmation email.Their emails don't list primary occupants. First time I have ever used the reservation system for TM. Usually just show up at 6am. Get a site. Thought I would give it a try. There were sites in late July and August. Booked for 4 nights. Gee now I don' t have to leave home at midnight to arrive early to get a site.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
20 degree bag highly recommended for TM. Take an extra blanket too. Worst part is having to get up to take a pee. brrrrrrrrrrrr.......by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Best thing about the TM campground pools...is that there so few people around. We also lay around the rocks near the campground and slide down the natural water slide there. As long as there is a warm rock around its great.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
We are doing our yearly trek to the TM campground mid August. We always arrive at 7am, and get a site. Anybody know how the line at the TM office has been this year?by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Well...looks like August will be too crowded. Maybe Sept would be nicer for a visit. First year since the 80's we may not make it up there for camping. Daveby tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
We always.get there by 7am. Always get a spot. Switch later if we dont like it. That method has worked since 1980. My favorite campground. Hard to find a place like it. We are going in August, if the snow goes away.by tmcamper - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Sounds great. One night we had a huge light redish bear, "called old red" by the rangers sneak up on us. Sitting around the campfire, I could see him peering over at us from 10 feet away. Actually it was right behind my wife. Reached over and turned up the old Coleman lantern to bright and it ran away. Love TM campground. One of best parts of our trip is going down to the water and tby tmcamper - General Discussion
When I said be over at the reservation desk at 7am or earlier, I meant the day after your reservation. You should be able to renew the same spot, or just get another spot. If you ask them the day of your reservation, they will most likely say the same thing. Meaning check with the front desk in the morning. The line forms early. Daveby tmcamper - General Discussion
