Gas costs for towing trailer vs car is a valid point, and may make the difference for me being cheap about spending money for tent cabin or $20 for campsite. I don't think with two young kids I can get my wife to tent camp in the campground.by AlpineBrian - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
This is why I love this site, within 24 hours I get all great responses! Thanks! We have a Honda 3000, the thing is so quiet. I really hate those that don't have the quiet ones, and I'm sure those without them at all hate me! I'll have to learn about my trailer's winter ability to handle winter weather. How often in say January does it get below freezing at night? I live at 2,000 feet eby AlpineBrian - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I searched through the site, but really only found the winter driving and chains discussion. What is it like, usually, during the winter? Can one pull a trailer and camp? Barring a recent big storm, can one pull a trailer in/out easily? I know I am limited to Upper Pines, first come only. We just got back from a week in site 38 in lower pines. WOW. I am hooked. Is it worth $10 in gas to save $10 on an entry pass? It kills me people are trying to sell their pass on Craigslist. It might be worth it if the guy lives down the block, but to start your car and drive somewhere to save $10 just doesn't make sense?by AlpineBrian - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Quoteeeek QuoteAlpineBrian You should post your ad on craigslist, then we can be sure to have it flagged. This isn't the same as scalping campsites. Couple of questions: 1. Is there a way you can remove the links once they've been removed? I keep clicking on links but find they are already gone. 2. Do you send the people a stock e-mail? Seems like a lot have been removed by the authors, I assume due to something you sent them? Can we see the text of that? I would like to be more informed. Thanks! Hi all, I will be in Lower Pines in late June for four nights, and don't like big crowds (I know, they will be there regardless). Do a lot of people drive in/out each day, thereby making the crowds smaller in the early morning? , or before sunset? Do the crowds peak at a certain time each day at the main tourist spots? I got a spot for 4 nights in late June, brother trying at his house got skunked. Bummer. We were looking for specific sites and clicked at 700 on the dot. How long does it take to get to lower pines from Indian Flats?by AlpineBrian - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Quoteeeek And nobody is scalping them yet? I had fun the past few months flagging those. Do you think they are going to give up? I want to reserve a site for late May, early June, and am wondering if my chances will be improved with the scalpers gone. Quotechicagocwright Even with the additional permits being released, the cables are still being under-utilized. Sadly, and perversely, Yosemite may actually need the scalper to sell more permits, raising the level of his "fraud", and perhaps meeting a threshold making it worthwhile for them to prosecute.
