Quotehotrod4x5 QuoteDave Yes, but will the Park Service learn the lesson here and start trademark proceedings on all national park place names? Somehow I don't believe they have learned. They need to just make a law that a private entity cannot trademark something that is owned by the American people.Republicans would never go for it.by Dave - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. QuoteplawrenceMy assumption is that they purposely came up with ridiculous names so 1) they don't stick, and 2) the names generate more bad publicity towards DNC. Hopefully, the Majestic will revert back to the Ahwahnee and Half Dome Village goes back to being called Curry Village (though it would have been cute if they had renamed Curry Village to Dave & Jennie's Village). I know those tour buses. They spend at least 2 hours, often 4, driving to the Park only to stay in the Park for less than an hour, then another 2 to 4 hour drive back. Makes no sense to me, but they love it and keep coming.by Dave - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

This is not good news to everyone. Now many popular rock/mineral collecting sites are now off limits. Some of the new rules are amazingly stupid. One is that if you happen across a pretty rock then you can pick it up and keep it. If you are out looking for rocks to collect, you can't pick up any or take any with you.by Dave - General Discussion

Quoterecycling1991.....3. I guess I can understand Neubacher not caring. Who does? I actually looked for a Yosemite org chart online, but was unsuccessful. Who is in charge of camping? Is that information publicly available? I know it's not DNC, because you go through the park service directly. Another topic for another day, what does Neubacher care about? Ah.... just got an idea..... The Yosemite Conservancy might be a solution to end this problem. After the current mess makes it through the courts the YC should jump in and copyright/trademark/whatever the names. Then charge the NPS $100 a year for the rights to use them. Quotey_p_wThis has got to be the most tone deaf thing I've seen a major company do in a long, long time. It's going to cost them more than the $51 million they were hoping to get from Aramark. They don't care. DNC already has a bad reputation, but they don't care. They still make millions, billions?, in profit. THAT is all they care about.by Dave - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. QuoteKCMcClintock will fix this, right? Yosemite's in his district. Or, maybe he'll just push to privatize the park service, or the park outright, right? He's a useless Tea Bagger.
