Sierra National Forest Seeks Public Comment - Off -Highway Vehicle Grant Proposals

Clovis, CA (January 7, 2011)...The Sierra National Forest is seeking public comments on preliminary grant proposals for the State of California Off‐Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division (OHMVR) for the 2011/2012 grant cycle.

The Sierra National Forest has drafted preliminary grant proposals and seeks your review and information to further develop them into a strong grant package. The Forest also is interested in hearing grant ideas from the public that could enhance the OHV program.

The Sierra National Forest will host an open house Tuesday, February 8th between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Forest Headquarters, 1600 Tollhouse Road in Clovis. The purpose of the meeting is to provide copies of the preliminary grant proposals and discuss additional ideas submitted by the public. Opportunities to participate in the open house via video conference at the North Fork Forest Service office can be made available if requested.

When the final grant applications are submitted to the State in March, the Forest will hold an additional public open house to receive comments on the 2011/2012 grant submittals.

The OHMVR and the Sierra National Forest have maintained a successful partnership for over 25 years. Last year, the Forest was awarded over $1 million to match Forest Service and other funds for ground operations, planning, law enforcement, and restoration and development projects.
