On August 26th, two vacant tents were collapsed by bear in the Russian River Campground in two separate incidents. The first incident occurred at approximately 7:15 am according to an eye witness who observed a black bear lying on a collapsed tent. The witness proceeded to yell until the bear left the area.

Hmm, I have a dilemna. Do I tell my wife and kids about this story or not? They are going tent camping this weekend north of Anchorage this time. The picture below is our tent at the Russian River campground. I hope this tent ban is temporary because we plan on going to the Russian every year and just invested in a nice tent.

We could see this river from our tent just about where this picture shows. Also in the biggest pine just behind our tent, there was a nice mature bald eagle.Just through that wooden railing and down a little enbankment.
