Grand Canyon, Ariz.– The Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center received a report of a missing individual on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Marc Buckhout, 36, was reported missing by a member of his family on Saturday evening. Mr. Buckhout is described as 5’9’, 175 pounds, with brown hair. He was last seen on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on August 2, 2014 hiking along the South Rim west of Grandview Point in the vicinity of Highway 64.

Search efforts are currently underway and the National Park Service is conducting an investigation into the whereabouts of Mr. Buckhout. Visitors who may have any information regarding Mr. Buckhout’s whereabouts are asked to contact Grand Canyon National Park Silent Witness Program at 928-638-7767.

Grand Canyon, Ariz.– National Park Service employees continue to search for missing Glendale, AZ resident Marc Buckhout. Search efforts today included a dog team working in the vicinity that Mr. Buckhout was last seen. Additionally a technical rescue team covered hazardous terrain over the rim of the canyon today. Yesterday an extensive air search was conducted using the park helicopter. Rim-based rangers scanned the area and on-the ground teams continued to systematically work the area.

Marc Buckhout, 36, was reported missing by a member of his family on Saturday evening. Mr. Buckhout is described as 5'9', 175 pounds, with brown hair. He was last seen at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 hiking along the South Rim west of Grandview Point in the vicinity of Highway 64.

Search efforts will continue with technical and ground teams tomorrow. The National Park Service is conducting an investigation into the whereabouts of Mr. Buckhout. Grand Canyon, Ariz.– National Park Service personnel have located a body several hundred feet below the rim in the last known vicinity of missing Glendale, AZ resident Marc Buckhout.

The family of Mr. Buckhout has been advised of the discovery. Due to the location and technical operation required to recover the body, the National Park Service will conduct the recovery mission first thing tomorrow morning. Once the body is recovered it will be turned over to the Coconino County Medical Examiner for positive identification.

The National Park Service in coordination with the Coconino County Medical Examiner is conducting an investigation into the incident.
