JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK, Twentynine Palms, California –On June 21, at 10:27 am , a fire was reported in the Quail Springs area of Joshua Tree National Park. Fire crews from CAL FIRE, San Bernardino County, BLM and National Park Service responded to a brush fire approximately 100 yards of off the road near mile marker #21. The fire burned an area of approximately one and a half acres. It was fueled primarily by dried grasses with no significant damage to living Joshua Trees. Quick action by fire crews and the lack of driving winds minimized the area affected. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
