A Sunny Forecast and Booming Waterfalls Promise a Glorious Memorial Day Weekend in Yosemite National Park

Highway 140 and the Glacier Point Road are open, and the Half Dome cables are up!

Memorial Day weekend promises to be a memorable one this year in Yosemite National Park. A greater than usual snowpack has created another spectacular waterfall year, the Half Dome cables are in place, and the Glacier Point Road is open for visitors looking for a scenic drive or hike and a glimpse into Yosemite's still snow-covered backcountry.

Visitors coming to Yosemite National Park are advised to arrive early, and are encouraged to park their vehicles in the Day Use Parking Lot and to use alternative forms of transportation. Free hybrid shuttle busses, which run every five minutes from 7am to 10pm, are a great way to see Yosemite Valley and to get from place to place. Bikes are available for rent at the Yosemite Lodge and Curry Village. There are over 10 miles of paved bike trails in Yosemite Valley. Additionally, all pedestrian trails are open (including the popular 4-Mile Trail to Glacier Point) and the Half Dome cables are in place!

Highway 140--closed recently due to rockslide--has been reopened to motorized traffic only, bikers and pedestrians will not be permitted through the rockfall zone. Visitors can expect minor delays.
