Shattered Air by Bob Madgic was mentioned in another thread (http://yosemitenews.info/forum/read.php?1,11401,page=2). Deals with lightening related injuries and death on Half Dome. One place mentioned frequently in the book is a swimming hole possibly on a tributary of the Merced below Yosemite called "Paradise". Anyone know where this spot is located more precisely?

May exist primarily in the mind of DD. See Table Lake.

I'd have to agree with Goat Boy. Table Lake is pretty nice in the springtime.
It is very difficult to get to but it's pretty nice. It is very close to Pleasant Valley, USA.

Miss Bee,
Is this the same person who continually berates what that Goat Boy calls "Loch Tablae"?
Perhaps Mr. Condron has a secret crush on Table Lake and wants to be alone with her?
I found this from a previous post:

Probably the finest swimming in the entire park can be found at Loch Tablae.
It's cool crisp waters invite one to bask in it's unspoiled beauty in late spring and early summer.
In the heat of summer it's waters turn pleasantly tepid. Fair enough for even the
most discerning wilderness traveler.
The surrounding beauty is hardly matched anywhere in the Sierra.
Come test its waters and later nap under the abundant shady pines nearby.
This is a little over the top but in the springtime it's a pretty fair assesment.

I found this from a previous post:

Yup...he took on an almost trance-like state when speaking of the aforementioned "Lock Tablae", chanting the name unlike the way Homer Simpson says "Choc-o-lite". He was revived only after a quick slap to the face, and a firm "Snap out of it!!" (Like Cher in "Moonstruck"winking smiley brought him reluctantly back to reality...

The following directions should deliver one to the Gates of Paradise:
Follow the Merced down to its confluence with the San Joaquin and go north. Take the San Joaquin to its outlet in the Delta. Cross the Delta and follow the Sacramento up to the Feather. Hang another right and follow the Feather upstream to Lake Oroville. The NW branch of the lake will lead you to Paradise:

[Disclaimer: some portage may be required.]

Or ... you can take the road. (What's wrong with taking the road?)

Dale, you seem to have it confused with 'The Other Place.'

If memory serves me correctly, it is somewhere around the Fifth Circle of Goatferno that those trapped in the Stygian manzanita marsh are forced to watch baaad, continuously-looping cable shows.

As long as the cable shows include BeeWitched, Gilligan's Island, and the Brady Bunch... I'm ok with it.

Some twits don't care if cable is up or down. It's sort of lollygagging around on a glacier.

The cable was up. (I picked it up)

And that "glacier"... is nothing compared to this:

Could be due to Global Warning...

There were alot of fires going on when we were there. Quite a large one south of the park.
You can kinda see it's not really crystal clear... Maybe it is due to soot.

I note that the discussion got successfully steered away from Frank's original question. Either nobody knows where the described "Paradise" is located or has sworn not to tell.
