yep, more than likely... i see too many people horsing around like that all the time. years ago while at the top of Vernal Falls, i saw a guy hanging over the railing right next to the falls thinking he was funny. one slip and he waould have been a goner. the guy was totally hanging from the lowest piece of the railing, dangling his whole body over the falls... what an idiot!

According to this web site dedicated to the search for the missing person, he fell into the Merced River upstream of the Vernal Fall footbridge while reaching for "an object" in the river.
