Re: Devils Postpile/Reds Meadow

Received a message from Reds Meadow Pack Station stating that on evening of June 5 (Friday night) the road (Highway 203) will be open to the Devils Postpile area and they assume some of the campgrounds will be open.

And how much do they charge now?

Not sure but...the entrance fees past Minaret Summit don't kick in till June 13, when the tour bus starts. You may enter and leave the Reds Meadow area before then without paying. Of course you'll owe a campsite fee when you pitch.

Last time I went down that road they charged per person. I was not amused.

Oh, that's a good point. They did charge per person last year, not per car. I don't think they would change that, since the entrance fees help out the bus service.
