walk-up permits easy to get?

Hi all,

Couldn't verify this by way of other web sites; so, thought I would pop the question here:

Are permits *available* generally to just walk up pick up first-come ... first serve at Tuolumne Meadows, ... say on a weekday morning?

I'm looking at Monday or Tuesday the 11th or 12th of September.

And I'm going to bust out a week on the PCT going north out of TM.

I'm hesitant to reserve, because exact date is uncertain.

For just one person? Just get there early and don't count on getting your first choice and you should be alright.

Yes, I'm going solo ... will try to "groggily" get up to the permit counter early, as I'm driving from Antioch ... get there by 8:00am or so ...

You can get your permit the day before your trip. Of course that means other people can too. So by early I mean early on the previous day.
