Yosemite National Park Celebrates National Park Week and Earth Day with Special Programs and Activities
National Park Week April 17 – April 25
Earth Day April 22

What: Yosemite National Park will celebrate National Park Week and Earth Day beginning with events starting on Friday, April 17. The events are being sponsored by the National Park Service and DNC Parks and Resorts at Yosemite, Inc.

When: Friday, April 17 through Sunday April 26, 2009

Activities:
Friday, April 17th 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.: Earth Day Family Night – Join park interpreters and educators for an evening of songs, entertainment and fun at the Yosemite Lodge at the Amphitheatre.
Saturday, April 18th All Day: Several activities throughout the day, including a Yosemite Village Mall celebration,
sustainable “salad bar” testing, walks, and activities at the Ansel Adams Gallery. At 11:00 a.m., join National Park
Service officials as they cut the ribbon on a new propane bottle recycling machine.
Sunday, April 19th All Day: Activities throughout the day in Yosemite Valley.
Wednesday, April 22nd EARTH DAY: Activities throughout the day in Yosemite Valley.
Friday, April 24th 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Ken Burns is in the park to preview his new film National Parks: America’s Best Idea. He will be available for media interviews and there will be a preview of his latest film. SUBSEQUENT

Saturday, April 25th 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: A celebrations of National Junior Ranger Day. Throughout the day children can participate in a number of different events and programs designed to promote education about the importance of wilderness and wildlife, as well as safety. All programs begin from the Happy Isles Nature Center.
