3rd Annual National Junior Ranger Day Schedule
Saturday April 25, 2009
Adult accompaniment required for all activities.
10:00 am Learn and Serve: recommended for ages 7-13, 2 hrs
Learn about Yosemite National Park with a park ranger. Then get involved
in helping out the park, participating in a habitat restoration project.
Meet at the Nature Center at Happy Isles
Wee Wild Ones: recommended for ages 6 and under, 1 hr
Join a naturalist to learn about some commonly seen residents of
Yosemite: Squirrels!
Nature Center at Happy Isles
12:00-4:00 pm Exploration Fair drop-in activities.
Drop by the fair to explore some of the ways people are working to protect
the Park. Talk with a cultural demonstrator to learn about Ahwahneechee
traditions. Get to know a search and rescue dog and its handler. Meet a
bear biologist and find out exactly what bears are up to in the park. Chat
with a fire ecologist, and find out how fire does great things for the Park’s
habitats.

1:00 pm Water Search and Rescue Demonstration, 1 hr

2:00 pm Junior Ranger Vernal Fall Hike for ages 14 and up, 2 hrs.
Older junior rangers and their families can take a moderately strenuous
hike with a park ranger. Explore habitats along the trail, and see a
waterfall at the end!
