Work on a section of boardwalk has temporarily closed a portion of one of Yellowstone’s popular geyser basins. About 400 feet of boardwalk in the Back Basin of Norris Geyser Basin is being rebuilt. This will temporarily restrict access to Minute, Monarch and Fearless geysers for about a month.

The Norris Geyser Basin is one of the hottest and most dynamic of Yellowstone’s hydrothermal areas. Norris is the home of the Steamboat Geyser, the world’s tallest active geyser.

Meanwhile, the trail to Wraith Falls east of Mammoth Hot Springs remains closed. Efforts to install handrails on the viewing platform were slowed when workers struck bedrock while attempting to install support posts. This has delayed reopening of the trail for several days. The Wraith Falls Trail work is funded by a donation from the Yellowstone Park Foundation.
