Here's a better linky IMO:

Rundown of types o stoves:

Cat Can Stove:

Basic Top Burner (Pepsi Can Stove):

Really good instructions. I've built the Pepsi one and given a bunch of them away.
I've use the Pepsi one (I used a Guiness Can for nostalgia) smiling smiley
It works fine... but... the basic MSR Pocket Rocket .... is so much easier.

Dale made a few of them and we have used them a few times over the last couple of years. They are light, small, and work well. The only real downside is that you loose some control with the basic model. You can't control the flame, it's on or off. The other little point is that it will burn until the fuel is gone. Fuel management is a skill you have to hone.

The flame control problem has a gizmo that you can add to vary the flame and I think there is another thing you can use to snuff the flame but I don't think you can put the fuel back in the storage vessel.
The flame is invisible during daylight hours. Water will not work as fuel.
It is not bomb proof. It can be crushed and it can be blown away in a strong breeze leaving you without a stove potentially.

Short trip - Pocket Rocket stove (don't google pocket rocket, only google pocket rocket stove)
Long trip - MSR Dragonfly
For fun - cat stove
Ultra light hiker fanatic - cat stove
