Bit of possibly correct trivia:
I was informed by the pilot on a commercial flight into Las Vegas that it is the largest city in the world founded after 1900! Extraordinary growth, especially considering the lack of local rescources.

I think a well-landscaped desert front or back yard with native plants and rocks (and add a few non-native cactus) look terrific. If you live in the desert, why would you want a lawn? This thinking helped dry up Owens Lake!
