EMERGENCY CLOSURE ORDER
LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Los Padres National Forest. This Order is effective from

August 11, 2009, until the La Brea Fire is fully controlled.

Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the La Brea Fire Area Closure. The La Brea Fire Closure Area begins three miles north of Pine Canyon Fire Station on State Highway 166 where it intersects with the Los Padres National Forest boundary, then north-easterly along State Highway 166 to its intersection with the boundary of the Los Padres National Forest, then south-easterly along the boundary of the Los Padres National Forest to its intersection with Aliso Canyon Road (Forest Road No. 10N04), then south along the east side of Aliso Canyon Road to its intersection with Sierra Madre Road (Forest Road No. 32S13),then south-easterly along the north side of Sierra Madre Road to its intersection with Jackson Trail (Forest Trail No. 27W05), then west along the east side of Jackson trail to Sycamore Camp, then west along the south side of the Sisquoc Wild and Scenic Trail to its intersection with the Los Padres National Forest boundary, then north-westerly along the Los Padres National Forest boundary to the point of beginning, as shown on the attached map. 36 CFR 261.52(e).

Being on any National Forest System road within the La Brea Fire Closure Area.

3. Being on any National System trail within the La Brea Fire Closure Area.

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from the prohibitions listed above:


1. Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.


2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.


3. Owners or lessees of private land within the La Brea Fire Closure Area are exempt from the prohibitions listed above to the extent necessary to gain access to their land.


4. Persons who reside within the La Brea Fire Closure Area are exempt from the prohibitions listed above to the extent necessary to gain access to their residences.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. 16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559, 3571 and 3581.
