WEST GLACIER, MONT. – Officials at Glacier National Park report that a 30-year-old Browning resident died Thursday in the park’s Two Medicine Valley.

Clinton Croff was reportedly involved in altercations near road construction traffic on the road into the Two Medicine Valley. National Park rangers responding to the incident found Mr. Croff combative and suffering from multiple wounds. Rangers secured Croff and began emergency medical treatment. Shortly after he was detained, Croff collapsed and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was administered. These efforts were unsuccessful and Mr. Croff was pronounced dead of undetermined causes when the ALERT air ambulance helicopter arrived on the scene at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The incident is under investigation. Agencies assisting the National Park Service's Office of Investigative Services in the investigation include the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Montana Highway Patrol. An autopsy is being conducted today (Friday) by the State Crime Lab in Missoula.

The Two Medicine Valley is located on the park’s southeast side near the community of East Glacier. The valley’s facilities include an NPS campground, numerous trails, a boat concession, and a concession-operated camp store.

Further details will be released, pending the investigation.
