While perusing a textbook titled “Earth Science,” it was noted that the U-shaped land-form resulting from the (widening, deepening, and straightening) action of a glacier upon a V-shaped alpine valley is more accurately referred to as a glacial trough.
Perhaps we can petition one of the food outlets in Downtown Yosemite to rename itself “The Trough.”
