Missing Vancouver, Wash., couple found safe after 4 nights in snowbound car
John and Patricia Norvell of Vancouver, Wash., were rescued Friday after being trapped in a snowbound car for 4 nights on a remote road southwest of Mount St. Helens.

Thanks to the kindness of strangers, John and Patricia Norvell of Vancouver, Wash., were safe and well Friday evening after spending four nights trapped in a snowbound car on a remote forest road south of Mount St. Helens.

"I do feel lucky," said John Norvell in an interview Saturday. "I said my prayers."

A rear wheel of the Norvells' Jeep Grand Cherokee got stuck in a ditch on a drive in the mountain snow on Monday. The couple had no food, were in a cellphone dead-zone miles from any help, and a heavy snowstorm was on the way.

Both 63 and diabetic, they stayed in the Jeep all week as 2 feet of snow blanketed their car.
