Back from Peru and machu Picchu

OK--We are just back from an amazing trip. Here's the first report, on our website. But there will be more to come as we include daytrips around Cusco, and also some notes on some of the logistics and isues we faced on the trail.

I tried to write it from the perspective of giving enough information so that people who are considering the trip would feel a little more informed at the end of it all. Really great read. You mention that you'll be posting more about your porter & guide in a subsequent blog entry. Please let us know when it's up...I'd really like to hear more (and if you're up for putting a bunch of your pictures on Picassa or some other site, please let us know that, too..want to see more as well as well!)

Unless you're planning on including it on a subsequent blog-post, can you say a bit about the logistics (with whom you booked the tour, cost, getting there, etc)? Machu Picchu is definitely on my Bucket List and, for me, getting lots of details is the first step towards moving it on to the "Been There, Done That" list.

Also, how close does the train come to MP? I'm hoping it's far enough away that it doesn't distract from the experience of the place?
