BANFF, Alta. — Grizzly bears will be fitted with GPS collars and tracked as part of a plan to reduce the number of bears killed on railway tracks in Banff and Yoho national parks. As soon as grizzlies become active this spring, Parks Canada wildlife experts will begin capturing bears to fit them with lightweight tracking devices. They plan to collar 10 to 12 grizzlies, primarily females, to monitor their movements and examine how they use the busy Bow Valley and other areas over the next four years.
