Most of we Yosemite fans live in the land of jobs aka the SF Bay Area. To get there most drive state route 120 across the valley going through Manteca, Escalon, and Oakdale, on the way. Between Manteca and Oakdale are miles of nut tree orchards with almond groves dominating. Well for years I've noticed this enormous pile of almonds along the road at one of the almond processing facilities near Escalon, a pleasant little community with more churches per capita than about any place you might find. A few times I've wondered what they did to keep away local squirrels? Dogs? Well apparently some criminals noticed these kind of piles too. If they are going to fence 70 tons of walnuts they must also be in the agriculture industry. A sad reflection on our society in this era when even at a rural town like that, low lifes in our society are about.
