Camping and Trail Access Advisory Regarding Bald Fire Smoke Impacts

Visitors to Lassen Volcanic National Park are advised to avoid the Butte Lake Campground and associated trailhead access due the Bald Fire located in Lassen National Forest seven miles northeast of the CA Highway 44 and Butte Lake Road junction. This advisory has been issued due to smoke impacts, red flag warnings, current fire behavior, and fire weather forecasts for the Bald Fire. The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) through the park remains open, but is closed north of the park at Old Station due to wildfire in the area. Hikers may want to exit the PCT through the Summit Lake area to travel around the area's fire activity.

This is not an evacuation notice for the Butte Lake Area.

More information and current status of the Bald Fire can be found at: http://www.inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4022
