Poopenaut Valley (strenuous)

3 miles (4.8 km) round-trip; 2 hours

Begin four miles east of the Hetch Hetchy Entrance Station (look for small turnout on the right)

This trail provides quick access to the Tuolumne River, descending 1,229 feet (735 m) to the river below O'Shaughnessy Dam.

If the dam is releasing a lot of water it's not a good time to go as the meadow area will be flooded and the river will be impossible to cross.

Even more fun if they start releasing after you cross. Makes it a wee bit hard to get back.

All of your loose floppy parts would fall due to the cold water if you tried to cross.

Don't you mean retract?

Retraction would be the feeble attempt to save them but to no avail.

I've crossed Deep Creek in the dead of winter. The attempt to save has worked so far.

If you can do it in 2 hours you are not spending any time down below exploring.

And there is access to the Vaunted Goat Gulch Venue

Some people don't seem to want to see the sights.

Avec manzanita? Something I like much better with a trail:

I think you had a better chance of hyperthermic dangleberries...

(nice blatant advertisement though)
