For a panoramic view of the western divide region of the Sequoia National Forest, hike the 5-mile round-trip trail to Needles Lookout. Venture out to the building perched atop the Needles and have a look around as well as inside, at the fire-spotter's living quarters. A ranger lives in this house of glass for the entire dry season, and for good reason.

Must be an interesting residence during lightening storms!

I am sick of all these writers telling the world about the latest greatest hike. What do they want another Half Dome frenzy? Best leave it to bloggers and hiking boards to write about the latest hike. If someone finds out that way, terrific. But to put it in a big newspaper so that everyone can come in a big stampede, I wish they wouldn't.
