Burns defended the film, although not its length, saying that the national parks have always benefited from art about the parks, whether it was oil paintings by famous artists or images captured by well-known photographers.

The only thing longer than a Ken Burns docu-series is a Ken Burns answer to a question about a Ken Burns docu-series.

The guy is charming - that's for sure.

I met him for the first time just asking for directions at the Valley visitor center. He later led a ranger walk/talk on bears.

The last time I met him, he led a snowshoe walk at Badger Pass.

He's got wit, charm, and a sharp mind.

Heh! These are all wonderful stories - but I believe Burns has nothing to defend. He clearly loves and is fascinated by his country and the world in which he lives, and his films speak eloquently for themselves. I would not mind if TV were wall-to-wall Florentine Films - at least one channel. I never tire of them.

If the series is anything like the Civil War or the baseball series, I'll watch all 12 hrs and want more.
