ATT vs, Verizon in the Valley
August 28, 2009 03:42PM
Hi,
My wife's Verizon phone (Moto Razr) gets reception (mostly) in the valley. Now she needs a new phone and is considering the iPhone. Does anyone know about the ATT network in the valley? Any iPhone users out there care to comment?

Thanks, Dave

ATT worked for a friend recently. Seemed better than Verizon but that may have just been the phones.

There are three main ATT cell sites in the Park: Sentinel Dome, Tuolumne Meadows & Curry Villiage. They are all in fine working order 'cause Bee'sFrog keeps 'em that way! The coverage becomes spotty in the winter because snow and road closures keep the crews from maintaining the sites.

Are the CDMA (like Verizon) sites co-located with the GSM (ATT) sites?

It's very useful to know where the cell sites are when you are trying to find a working spot.

What about Mount Hoffman? Is that a cell site as well?

I'd be surprised if they weren't.
