Tired of constant threats to close California’s state parks, a coalition of environmental and nonprofit groups has proposed a ballot initiative that would charge motorists an additional $18 to register their vehicles in exchange for free admission to the state parks.

People who use the parks should pay entrance fees to those parks.

There are 25 million vehicles registered in CA, give or take.

Budget cuts amounted to $14 mil this year and $22 mil next year.

How about adding ONE DOLLAR to everyone's registration to make up for the budget cuts? That's a lot more sensical than making everyone pay an extra $18 whether they use state parks or not.

You say that like it is an obvious thing. I'd like to see some reasons for your opinion. Hint: ideology doesn't count.

None of them belong to you.

In Montana, there is a similar fee. $4 per vehicle. You can decline to pay that (and risk a citation if found in a state park).

People should pay entrance fees to a park they use. Otherwise they shouldn't have to pay anything at all. Obviously that's beyond eeek's logic.

Obviously you can only state your opinion and can't support it. Just like I expected from you.

The park budget contribution from the California State General Fund obviously originates from the Tooth Fairy.
