New $7 boat launch fee at Lost Cove-Antelope Lake

Lost Cove Boat Launch Fee

Starting on May 1, 2010, a new $7.00 fee will be charged to launch a boat from the Lost Cove Boat Launch at Antelope Lake on the Plumas National Forest. An annual pass will also be available for $35.00 for the season, and will be good from April 1 through September 30. Between October 1 and March 30, there will be no charge to use the boat launching facility.

Lost Cove Boat Launch will be operated and maintained by a new concessionaire, Royal Elk Park Management. Operating under a permit with the Forest Service, the concessionaire is responsible for all fees associated with the operation and maintenance of the recreation area as well as providing staff, which includes the campground hosts and area manager.

In the past, the operation and maintenance of the boat ramps have been subsidized by overnight camping fees from the Antelope Lake Recreation Area campgrounds. However, due to increased costs of maintaining these facilities, such as garbage collection, fuel costs and the salaries of hosts to clean and maintain toilet buildings, litter pick up, and dock management, it is necessary for the boat launch area to be self-supporting. The boat launch fee will ensure that these popular facilities remain open and are maintained at a high standard. No fees will be charged at the lesser-developed picnic area or fishing access sites around the lake. The operation and maintenance of these sites will continue to be accomplished by the Forest Service. A self-service
fee station at Lost Cove Boat Launch will be available.

Royal Elk Park Management is committed to meeting the growing needs of the public. Future plans may include: upgrading the courtesy dock and offering a boat rental program for canoes, paddle boats, and row boats. Their goal is to provide visitors with a quality recreation experience.

I charged to the new fishing boat is such an extremely inexpensive pay. A self-service, are quick and well put will be available, yet you pay the consequences for the quality.
