WASHINGTON—With their current condition "marginally breathtaking at best," America's national parks will be closed this week for their exhaustive annual cleaning and remajestification, the U.S. Department of the Interior announced Monday.

Rumor has it that (1) the information kiosk at the Yosemite Creek / El Capitan trail intersection is being painted 'Forest Green' to better blend in with the landscape and (2) a fresh coat of wax is being applied to the granite on the Half Dome cable route to better protect it from the tourist traffic.
