Pahrump, NV -- Three Nye County women are missing after what was supposed to be a day trip to Death Valley. The women are Donna Cooper (62), her daughter Gina Cooper (17), and Jenny Leung (19), a friend of the daughter's visiting from China.

Probably took a dirt road, their car broke down and the one liter of water they had between them didn't sustain them past sunset. People who visit DV in summer have got to be stupider than anyone I know. Article says they have now been found. Good news.

I take it that you don't know any of the 4.5M people who live in the Phoenix Metro area:

I was there briefly during the summer. We stayed along all the major travelled routes (including Badwater) and could have flagged for help if there was any trouble with our car.

However - the family is from Pahrump, NV , so I'm sure they're used to quite a bit of heat.

Link connects to an update. Apparently found. Details lacking. Better outcome than similar story 1-2 yrs ago.

Ok, I should have been more specific. People who visit and are not prepared with adequate water, spare tire and stay on the main roads. Like this lady and her poor son, for example: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32340356/ Who should not have gone off roading AFTER changing to her spare tire.

If someone can't see the difference between a desolate area like Death Valley and a heavily populated metro area, then it is beyond my trying to explain.
