avatar Yellowstone Looking for East Entrance Snowcoach Operator
September 23, 2010 12:51PM
Yellowstone is looking for someone interested in providing guided winter snowcoach tours originating from the park's East Entrance. Under the current temporary winter use plan, two commercially guided snowcoach tours a day may originate from the park's East Entrance, during a core operating season of December 22 through March 1, weather conditions permitting. The National Park Service has released a prospectus explaining the details of the business opportunity as well as the terms and conditions under which a contract would be awarded. The new contract would end April 1, 2013. The prospectus is available by contacting Jacque Lavelle in Denver by email at Jacque_Lavelle@nps.gov or by phone at (303) 969-2661 weekdays during normal business hours.

The temporary winter use plan runs through the 2010-2011 winter season. The National Park Service is preparing a new long-term Winter Use Plan for Yellowstone National Park. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement will be released for public review and comment in early 2011. All alternatives which allow for oversnow vehicle use would continue the daily vehicle use limits contained in the temporary plan for the winter of 2011-2012.
