Man Falls To His Death From South Rim
A man fell 500 feet to his death from the South Rim last Friday afternoon. The incident occurred between Pipe Creek Vista and the visitor center. An eyewitness said that the man – identified as Andrew Stires, 42, of Burbank, California – was trying to jump from one outcropping to another just off the trail when he fell. Rangers recovered the body the following day.
