All seriousness aside, I recently stumbled across this lighted hat that might actually have some value for ourdoor adventurers:
Amazon Source

Also available from Home Depot.

And apparently cheaper also!
How about this one:

I carry two of the Photo Freedom lights w/me backpacking. Only lights I carry.
0.8 oz. for the two. No way I'd buy the hat light b/c:
a) the hat sux
b) the light isn't very versatile
The other light isn't as versatile as the clippy one I have... and weighs more.
Might as well go with one of the multitude of led lights out there with
1000 bells and whistles (literally).
(there's some really good ones out there)

I too prefer the little clip-on led light. It's the only light I carry while backpacking.

Dawg,
When have I led you astray?
You should put those lights in a pair of Darn Tuff socks above the fireplace.
smiling smiley
Darn Tuff socks save me sooooo much money!

Only downside is the light is so small I've left it clipped inside a tent or
bivy sack many times... forgetting about it... thus another reason why
I bring two.

Perhaps the perfect gift is a pair of Photon Phreedom lighted Darn Tuff socks! Guaranteed for two lifetimes.

For someone not on a budget, a $104 cap.

I'll order one right after the day I begin tipping hot dog vendors.
