One wonders what percentage of Americans think that Pluto was named after a Disney cartoon character.

(Years ago, when CNN actually reported news items, they would often air tidbits called "factoids" when transitioning to a commercial break. My all-time favorite is the poll which showed that about 77% of Americans thought that oatmeal was made from wheat. Even more distressing is that the poll was conducted in a multiple choice format with the correct answer included among the options.)

When I mention "Wolf 359" what immediately comes to mind? No cheating by looking it up. Just tell me what it means to you, if anything.

"Sheep's Clothing"® inspector I.D.?
Little Red Riding Hood?
The Three Little Pigs?

(Actually, I must recuse myself from answering since I am aware of the naming conventions used in astronomy.)

It's from Star Trek. I believe it is the planet where a battle occurred that killed Worf's parents. Or... hmmm now I'm not feeling good about the last part. I know for sure it's from ST.

Or even a character from Popeye?

Actually, most of us did first hear of it on Star Trek but it is a real red dwarf star, one of only nine stars within 10 light years of us.
