Nice picture! We might have seen the same fellow patroling Ahwahnee Meadow around January 6, sniffing and leaping for mice - got some pics of him, also at close range - perhaps will have them available next day or so.

yeah, i talked to one Ranger who said he had been hanging around for a few days lately, so it very well could have been the same one. he didn't appear to be afraid of people much.

We watched him at very close range for awhile (less than 60 feet), and he seemed unconcerned - until some bozo with his binoculars glued to his face walked right up to him and stared at him - the poor canine got spooked by that, all right, and beat a hasty retreat into the woods across the road.

about 10 miles (on Hwy 120) before the Valley, i saw about 8 deer running alongside a hill right by the road i was driving on, but i couldn't grab my camera in time, it would have made a nice photo.. how come those situations always seem to happen? lol
