<HTML>As part of a continuing effort to share the status of park projects with the public, the National Park Service is holding an open house in Yosemite National Park on Wednesday, August 27 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the East Auditorium, behind the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center.

The park is moving forward on projects that will implement actions called for in the Yosemite Valley Plan, continue the work necessary to recover from the 1997 flood, or complete planning efforts associated with ongoing park operations.

Many projects will be beginning or ongoing this fall: the East Valley Utilities Improvement Plan, the Cascades Diversion Dam Removal, the South Fork Merced River Bridge Replacement, Construction of Employee Housing at Curry Village, the Lower Yosemite Fall Project, and the Yosemite Valley Bus Procurement. This is a great opportunity for visitors to hear about the various projects and learn how these projects will effect visitation in the short and long term.

For those projects soliciting public comments, written comments can be submitted at the open houses. Comments may also be sent to the park via fax (209/379-1294), email ([email protected]), or standard mail (Yosemite National Park Superintendent, PO Box 577, Yosemite, CA 95389). To see a summary of current projects and their status as well as access related planning documents on the web, go to www.nps.gov/yose/ planning.

Visitors attending the open house will have the entrance fee waived. For those unable to attend the open house, refer to the Planning Update in the coming weeks for a schedule of future open house events.
