avatar Bizarre find in Mariposa...
June 07, 2011 07:20PM
While messing around on Google Earth I found a large jet passenger liner in the woods just North of Mariposa. It's a huge jet just sitting there in the woods! It appears to have been there for quite some time.

Here's the coordinates; 37.518260 by -119.943778

Does anyone know about this?

It's not in the woods; it's in the air.

No, it's on the ground. Look at the trailing edge of the wing; trees are blocking part of the view.

Nah, those are most likely jpeg artifacts. Besides, there's a shadow.

Send the llamas to investigate.

The trailing edge of the wing is also symmetrical about the centerline. Agree with Rick... in the air.
Anyone have any idea what type of plane it is?

Aren't shadows supposed to be black, not turquoise?

Looking at the historical views from different years, the plane appears only in the 7/30/2006 image.

Hmmmm........

Depends on what kind of sensor is involved.

Someone showed me a plane they found in the Potomac River. They seem to be not that uncommon.

It's a two engine plane with engines under the wing. Could be a 767 but more likely any number of smaller commercial passenger jets like those made by Embraier.
