Calgary family comes to rescue as cougar attacks child

CALGARY — A six-year-old girl's family came to her rescue after a cougar attacked the child in Kananaskis Country west of Calgary during the long weekend, provincial authorities say.

On July 31, the girl was walking with her family on a trail in Bow Valley Provincial Park. A cougar attacked and injured the child before her family was able to chase the animal away.

The girl suffered minor cuts and puncture wounds.
