In the 12 months since I last wrote about scarce parking for the Cleveland National Forest, there has been some progress. It's not a lot. In fact, it has nothing do with parking lots. But let's appreciate the improvements. At least officials are responding.
First, they have extended the parking hours in Modjeska Canyon. Second, we can use the bathroom. I suppose that will make the waiting a little easier. The major problem of parking spaces remains.
There are tens of thousands of acres and hundreds of miles of trails and fire roads in the chunk of the Cleveland National Forest that sweeps into Orange County. But there are precious few trailheads. And when you arrive, there are precious few parking spots.
