Need a ride to Yosemite on July 4th
June 23, 2008 12:41PM
Hi,

I am planning to visit the Yosemite Park, leaving from San Jose on July 4th.
Does anyone have the same idea in mind? If so, my girlfriend and I would be
interested to share a one-way ride to the park (we don't have a car). Ideally
our drop-off point would be Tuolumne Meadows, as we don't think we can get there using public transit without sleeping over in the Yosemite Valley. We would pay for the gas. If you are interested, please let me know as soon as possible.

P.S. we could also meet up in Merced, as the Amtrack bus stops there at 10:45am. Stockton works too as the Amtrack bus stops there are 9:17 am.

cheers,
Martin L.

If you're bringing your stuff (i.e. camping) you might try camping. If you arrive by bus, you're allowed to stay at any of the backpackers campgrounds for $5/person. It's not well publicized, but it's in the Yosemite Superintendent's Compendium of park regulations.
