Snow play for preschoolers

eeek or anybody:

I'm heading up to Yosemite and then Camp Mather (Strawberry Music Fest) next week. With the impressive snow depths on the Tioga road I wonder if we can drive partway up for some afternoon sledding with the kids?

Or are the gates at Crane Flat locked? If so is there another place? We'll be camping in the valley then driving to Dimond O campground on the route to Hetch Hetchy (Evergreen Road) on Wed 5/25.

Thanks

Currently the gates at Crane Flat are locked. There is some chance the road might be partially open (to White Wolf?) by the 25th but I wouldn't count on it.

Thanks Rick. That was a mighty fast reply. Any alternate locations?

I've been trying to think of alternates but so far I'm coming up dry. The snow probably wouldn't be very good for sledding anyway. It's hard and full of sun cups this time of year.

True, I was just thinking of some late afternoon slush.
