Caltrans plans to open highway 120 (Tioga Road) on June 5th. The park entrance will still be closed at that time but you'll at least be able to get to the pass.

Are hearing from a source within the park that Tioga access from Lee Vining to the park should be through first week of July. Wow!

Not only is it a banner year for snow, but along with that comes the rock/mud slides, and fallen trees buried in the snow over the roadway.

Your best bet to cross the Sierra at the moment in that area is via Sonora Pass, which is now open.

Caltrans was early. Highway 120 is now open to 11 miles west of the US 395 junction.

That's a looooong steep slide area from 395 though. We'll cross our fingers for something earlier than July.
