Springdale, UT- Starting on Monday, November 16, 2015, Zion National Park's maintenance crew will begin work to replace the water main pipe from the Grotto trailhead to the Zion Lodge. Due to the extensive work to be completed, the half mile Grotto trail connecting the Zion Lodge and Grotto trailhead will be closed to all pedestrians and hikers. This temporary closure is expected to last two weeks with the Grotto trail to fully reopen on Saturday, November 28, 2015. This closure will not affect hikers accessing the Emerald Pools trails or the West Rim trail to Angel's Landing.

The Grotto trail was designed by landscape architect Harry Langley in 1932, and was constructed using only hand tools. In 1987, the Grotto trail was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
