I am going to attempt to summit Mount Rose on Sat 4/18/09.

If there is an avalanche, I will be in it. But what a view on the way out!

Mt Rose looks do-able, so up I go.

We are all hoping for the best.

I'd say snow level was around 6300 ft.
Beehive was 90% ... Laurel Lake was still frozen over with nearly 100% snow coverage.
I'll put a pict of Laurel frozen after I get the photos off the camera.

I skipped Mount Rose in favor of gold panning South Yuba River State Park (elevation 658 ft) on Saturday.

Snow skipped out around 4500 ft. on Hwy 20 west from the I-80. It's melting fast.

I noticed no skeeters yet anywhere. But you know they will be coming for you.

There were about two or three on our trip out to Miguel Meadow, Eleanor at Frog Creek. Up Frog Creek to the Miguel Meadow Trail, past Gravel Pit Lake, and out HH. Billy-e-g went up to Beehive and Laurel Lake and met me at Miguel before we went to Frog Creek. That whole area is pretty infested when they do come out so two or three isn't bad at all. There is a lot of water around though and the snow seems to be melting slowly. When things heat up they might get really thick this year.
